California Fashion Association

The CFA was the result of Fashion Industry Round Table, facilitated by then Mayor Richard Riordan. The meeting was in light of conditions encompassing a deplorable demonstration of subverted work law issues, regularly called the 'El Monte Sweatshop' episode.

At that meeting, members concurred that an industry association was important to answer the inquiries of the media and different gatherings, to accumulate noteworthy measurements, on-going information, and incite agreeable endeavors with city, state, and government authorities researching the episode, in the interest of the clothing and material industry on the loose.

From that point forward, the CFA has turned into a multi-pronged Association, managing all the noteworthy issues influencing the clothing and material industry of California. Ms. Metchek has along these lines expected the Presidency of the California Fashion Association and has kept on developing the individual corporate participations, with an effort to partnered affiliations all inclusive. Mr. Kane is still the Chairman; the industry is obviously in his obligation.

In 1999, the California Fashion Foundation was made "from the heart of the CFA" as the gathering pledges arm of the CFA. It is a non-benefit (C-3) open advantage program that makes yearly occasions and raising support open doors for grants and other characterized foundations partnered to the design business.
