Catalysis Society of South Africa (CATSA)

The Catalysis Society of South Africa (CATSA) is a society with aims to promote the advancement of catalysis in academia and the chemical industry in South Africa. It’s founded in 70’s and officially formed in 1990. Since then, it has grown as an institution promoting interaction in related areas of catalysis spanning both the local and international community. 

To reach unity across the nation, the auspices of CATSA hold an annual catalysis conference around to the world and different venue each year. This provides a forum for the sharing of knowledge and expertise in the fields of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, while provides young scientists and engineers the opportunity to present their work. CATSA added a yearly event as touring visit for an eminent international researcher in the field of catalysis, strengthening on-going collaborations and encourages new ones to form. CATSA gratefully acknowledge the support from industrial partners to allowthem to expand their capabilities. The Catalysis Society of South Africa remains committed to this endeavour and welcomes contributions and suggestion.Since 2015 CATSA registered as a non-profit organisation (NPO) in terms of the non-profit organisations format of (act 71 of 1997), with the registration number 149-462 NPO.

The twenty-seventh annual conference of the organisation Catalysis Society of South Africa (CATSA) will be hosted by the University of Johannesburg at champagne sports resort near central Drakensberg on November 06-09, 2016. The eminent visitor will be Professor Peter Wasserscheid. This event venue will be around 4 hours drive from Johannesburg or 2 hours drive from Durban city.
