Chinese Orthopedical Society

Chinese Orthopedical Association (COA) is one among the specialty societies governed by Chinese Medical Association. The association aims at promoting scientific exchange, providing Orthopedical education and upliftment of the Orthopedical health service level. In the year 1980, at the city Tiajnin, Chinese Orthopedical Association (COA) was founded in its first national meeting. The official journal of COA, the Chinese Journal of Medical Science started its First issue in 1981. The second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh national meeting were commenced in 1985, 1989, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 respectively. From 2006, COA began to carry out the meeting annually and therefore the initial International Congress of COA was organized at the same time. The past 5 years witnessed an enormous increase in the number of participants in the meeting that reached 12,000 in the year 2010. With a registered membership of quite 30,000 Orthopedical surgeons out of the huge total of 130,000 the COA is that the largest and most coveted Orthopedical society in China. The association governs 10 sub-specialty societies: Joint Surgery, Spine Surgery, Bone Tumor surgery, Orthopedical analysis, Foot and articulatio talocruralis Surgery, pathology, Trauma, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Nursing. Throughout the Chinese Orthopedical  Association (COA) 2011 Congress, COA 2011 adopted a broad international objective and had given attendants with a foremost gathering and diversified highlights. In the initial time, COA 2011 Congress gathered foremost consultants, presidents of international Orthopedical societies, presidents of famous sixty national Orthopedical societies, business opinion leaders, and CEOs of leading Orthopedical corporations within the world, and effectively designed a China-centered platform for international co-operation. Through the platform, the Congress fostered international discussions. The president at the times was Prof. WANG Yan from Beijing 301 hospital.
