Dutch Society of Hematology

The NVVH functions as a coordinating and umbrella organization for associations working in the areas of hematology. The coordinating function promotes the rural position of Hematology regarding patient care, teaching and research, and avoids fragmentation of the Dutch hematology. There is close cooperation with the sub and sister societies, including through representation on the board of the NVVH and by organizing joint meetings.

The Dutch Society of Hematology founded in 1950, is the national organization of blood experts, approximately 500 physicians and biomedical scientists working in areas of patient care, research and education on diseases of the blood and the blood forming tissues.

In the board are represented: the hematology departments of all academic hospitals, pediatric hematology, two hematologists from peripheral clinics and a clinical chemist or doctor in clinical chemistry.

The membership of the Dutch Society of Hematology is open to academics *: physicians and biomedical scientists who are mostly engaged in non-commercial institutions in the field of patient care, teaching and research on diseases of the blood and blood-forming tissues. Since January 25, 2013, the membership of the NVVH also is open for nurse specialists and physician assistant’s hematology.

Also (prospective) junior members find information on such matters as registration AIOS hematology, the training, the junior association and employment opportunities within the "Junior Division ".
