Egyptian Society of Diabetic foot

The Egyptian Society of Diabetic Foot is a Non-Governmental Organization. ESDF aims to enhance foot care for diabetic patients in Egypt and Arab world through giving knowledge and enhancing active collaboration between all specialities providing assistance in saving limbs and lives of diabetic patients. It arranges conferences which provide the state-of-art and information about the management of foot problems in patients with diabetes. Diabetic foot is a devastating complication of diabetes mellitus.  Short Term Targets are-  Patient education about foot problems in diabetes through periodicals published in Arabic language, Conduct meetings with patients all over Egypt to increase patient awareness with the problem, Establishment of ESDF website to demonstrate the activities of the society and interact with both patients and physicians, Encourage physicians to provide more time and care for the feet of their patients, through PDF presentations and educational videos, Organize annual national conference to handle with diabetic foot problems and recent therapeutic modalities, Provide free offloading devices for those who are poor, Sponsor research directed to solve local foot problems. Long Term Targets are- Establishment of Limb Preservation Centre, Establishment of Podiatry Institute.
