Estonian Society of Nephrology

Estonian Society of Nephrology is a medical association established in 1994 with purpose to form active frame network of kidney disease experts that encourages and reports enhancing advance in the field of clinical nephrology, hypertension, renal dialysis and transplantation of kidney or relate d subjects in Estonia. The impression of forming Estonian Society of Nephrology (ESN) was accelerated by founding members in 1994 at the time of nephrology was approved as an autonomous speciality among the well-known named member internal medicine specialities in Estonia. Perhaps the development of nephrology in Estonia, ESN activities included international collaboration including organisation and participation regular biannual Baltic nephrology conferences.

The notable achievement is development of CKD database in Estonia where also treatment quality indicators are included. The associative epidemiology research projects are running years with the support of Estonian Scientific Foundation and EU grants. ESN is advancing the nephrology research studies in Estonia with good economic situation and apparently it can afford RRT treatment almost to everybody. The members of Nephrologists Society growing with a plan to encourage related medical projects in future to educate non-nephrologists with CKD guidelines to detect early kidney damage.
