European Calcium Society

The European calcium society is a non-profit organization founded on 1989 with the solo aim to develop relationships between the different generations of scientists working in the field of Ca²⁺ binding and signalling and the various proteins involved I the calcium toolkit. But in 1997 ECS website was created and logo, newsletter was published.  The organization organizes symposium on Calcium Binding Proteins in Normal and Transformed Cells, within the Europe.  The 300 members of this organization belong to 32 different countries including Europe, Asia and USA. ECS organizes very successful scientific meetings in every two years and alternatively organizes the workshop as well. They also launched e-bulletins, facebook pages and various awards for their members. The goal of this organization is to provide, create and sustain a large community of all scientists from European countries and other countries in Europe and Asia, interested in and even enthusiastic about the calcium ion, willing to share information, to meet and to discuss results. ECS also encourages the Young Researches by providing special grants, prizes. The aim of this society is to fill the gap between the eminent researchers and young researchers. The topics for the various meetings, includes various aspects of Ca²⁺ signalling in disease and in therapy, novel functions of the Ca²⁺ ion, new information on the structural aspects of the Ca²⁺ channels, and new technical approaches. ECS General Assembly, also planning for the summer schools, which have been put forward. The spiral shell and bones reflect the essential presence of calcium in all living things. The role of the calcium for the growth of healthy teeth and bones. Calcium phosphate is the main component of bone. The society focuses on new tools for calcium imaging, calium remodeling in cancer, novel target neurological diseases, stem cell and regeneration etc.
