European Society for Molecular Imaging

The initial aim of creating an interdisciplinary scientific European MI society was to ensure sustainability of the achievements of three major European projects - DiMI, EMIL, and MOLIM. The coordinators and project partners of the projects have been the driving forces of the first years of the ESMI. Meanwhile the project period of all three networks ended and the ESMI succeed in establishing an independent structure. We continue to advocate Imaging Science and are convinced by the interdisciplinary approach and vision. It's about you - your participation is needed in order to foster innovation and excellence in imaging science, to establish a strong (European) Imaging Community, and also to secure funding for your field of research. Strengthen the Imaging Community and your field of research by being part of the society. The Statutes of the European Society for Molecular Imaging - ESMI defines - inter alia - the Purpose, the Governing Bodies, membership issues, the management structure, and decision making processes incl. voting rules of the society.

• The ESMI is providing an interdisciplinary platform for knowledge exchange in the field of Imaging Science covering basic sciences, translational aspects as well as clinical applications.
• The ESMI represents “IMAGING SCIENCE” as an important resource for the development of new imaging technologies, as a motor for advancing innovative methodological concepts to validation studies as well as supporting the translational process of taking innovation into the clinical environment.
• ESMI is an independent, non-profit, and apolitical society, which promotes the development and practical application of Imaging Sciences within Europe and beyond.
• ESMI is committed to scientific and technical excellence, to innovation and quality, to the promotion of knowledge and understanding, and to interdisciplinary co-operation.
