European Society Of Biomechanics

The European Society of Biomechanics was founded in 1976 at a meeting in Brussels of twenty scientists from eleven countries. The participants determined to make a replacement society, the European Society of Biomechanics. Biomechanics was outlined as “The study of forces performing on and generated inside a body and of the consequences of those forces on the tissues, fluids or materials used for diagnosing, treatment or analysis purposes”. The first goal of the ESB was developed as “To encourage, foster, promote and develop analysis, progress and data regarding the science of Biomechanics”. Our goal is to encourage analysis, publicise data and promote progress in Biomechanics. it's currently the biggest Biomechanics society in Europe with over a thousand members. Finally, our one thousandth member is Ehsan Soodmand from city University of Technology (Germany). Those gift at this meeting were selected  to be the instauration Members and a primary Council was fashioned beneath the Presidency of Dr. John Scales. Statutes and By-laws were written beneath the spot of the primary Secretary-General, Dr. Franz Burny. The statutes were approved beneath French law and registered in Strassburg. a primary scientific meeting and General Assembly of the membership was command in Brussels in 1978. From twenty members in 1976, the society grew to concerning a hundred in 1985 and concerning 350 in 1996. The mission of the ESB is to market excellence in biomechanics analysis, to foster integration of clinical and basic science, and to facilitate the interpretation of that science to health care and clinical follow. a technique within which ESB supports its mission and promotes excellence is by recognition of outstanding members with prestigious awards given at the biennial ESB Congress.
