European Tissue Repair Society

The European Tissue Repair Society, a non-profit making organization founded in 1988, aims to promote knowledge and interchange between scientists, healthcare professionals, industry and other individuals that have an interest in tissue repair of all organs. The Society has an annual meeting and a number of focus meetings each year concentrating on different aspects of tissue repair, ranging from basic science to clinical aspects of healing. The improvement of tissue repair as well as prevention of injury will be major challenges in the 21st Century and the European Tissue Repair Society has as its continued objective to contribute to these challenges. The benefits of membership include a reduction in the annual subscription price of the Society's journal 'Wound Repair and Regeneration', receiving the ETRS Bulletin which highlights the Society's activities as well as an annual certificate of membership. ETRS encourage new researchers by organizing a young investigator session as a plenary session at the annual meeting. It invites investigators from other research areas to speak at the annual meeting. Stimulate interaction between basic research and clinical practice. ETRS provide information, education and training for laboratory based researchers and clinicians working in the field of tissue repair (working parties, information sheets, teaching sessions in annual meeting, focused meetings). ETRS create working parties to develop and recommend minimal standards of clinical care, good clinical practice guidelines and research methodologies. ETRS involves the facilitation of collaborations between laboratories in fundamental science and clinics. It will be responsible for the surveillance of hot research topics and work in close feedback with the scientific committees of the ETRS annual meetings. Will collect and display on the ETRS Webpage: funding opportunities, upcoming research conferences, and recommend one research article for reading at least monthly. Will evaluate the possibility to organize scientific training courses for different target groups; these courses should be eligible for training credits and obtain ‘ETRS label’. Due to its tasks the committee will closely collaborate with the Education and the ETRS Junior Committee.
