Finnish Gynecological Association

The Finnish Gynecological Association (FGA) was established by Professor Seth Wichmann, together with eight different gynecologists working at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Helsinki University Hospital. This occurred in 1928. By 2015 the quantity of individuals has developed and surpasses now 1200. The association communicates with numerous national and universal associations inside the orders of perinatology, ultrasound, endocrinology and infertility, oncology, urogynecology and gynecological surgery. The association is a member of the international organisations FIGO, EBCOG, UEMS, NFOG and IFFS.

The association arranges every year two educational meetings for individuals: one in the spring and the other in the fall, customarily in November. The November meeting is likewise the official yearly meeting of the Finnish Gynecological Association. Notwithstanding these general meetings, the association composes smaller meetings for perinatologists, urogynaecologists, infertility specialists and gynecological oncologists. Workshops for associates devoted to or interested in research, organization and eduaction happen each 2 – 3 years. The latest expansion to the subgroups working inside the gathering is the one for learners in gynecology and obstetrics (EGO), which arranges courses twice every year. This training programme rotates every three years.
