The purpose of the association is to act as a moderator between its members and to promote veterinary science, research and the practice of veterinary medicine in Finland and to care for the needs and to give importance for the professional, societal, commercial and social interests of veterinarians and their joint aspirations.
The Finnish Veterinary Association indulges in publishing and supports research into veterinary science, organizes talks, lectures and other related educational events and annual veterinary seminars and workshops. It puts forward proposals on subjects related to veterinary science and its research and represents its members in contacts with other professional organizations and with veterinary associations abroad.
The association further acts as a negotiating body on veterinary, professional, societal, commercial and social issues. The association was established in 1892.
