French Society of Immunology

French Society of Immunology was established in 1966 with the initiative of Pierre Grabar. Pierre Grabar is a renowned internationally immunologist. In 1971, the society became a part of 10 founding national societies of the European Federation of Immunological Societies and International Union of Immunological Societies. Presently, the society is working under the president ship of ‘Hans Yessel’, since September 2015. Out of all the Presidents, Professor ‘Jean DAUSSET’ got Nobel Prize in medicine in the year 1980 for the discovery of the system of biological controls in the rejection or acceptance of grafts (HLA groups). The main aim of the society is to gather researchers, surgeons and lay press, who have interest in immunology, for sharing their knowledge. The IFC also supports research in immunology by providing funding and promotes dissemination of innovations. To improve quality, the society provides vocational training and scientific knowledge related to Immunology. IFC plays an educational role by: Organizing Workshops Annual Technology, where the specialists taught the most advanced methods and an Annual Course Immunology to publicize the new and innovative data in all areas of the discipline. This is also very beneficial for teachers to perfect the content of their lessons.The IFC also releases Yearbook of the Company which contains information about international bodies, who have shared their research. The newsletter of the society appears 2 times in a year. It consists of the timing of IFC's events, scientific brief prepared by French immunologists and minutes of the General Meetings. The website of the society (www.sfi-immunologie.fr) contains all necessary information, including registration forms, summary for meetings of the IFC and announcements etc. In the year 2016, two major events were held: Meetings Immunology & Immunotherapy Practices 2016 (March 11, 2016 in Paris, France) and Research Day in Allergology (April 19, 2016 in Paris, France). In the coming years, the IFC is going to organize many scientific events: Congrès Annuel de la SFI (Nov 28-30, 2016 in Paris, France), 1st International Symposium on Immune responses in Cancer and Infection (Feb 13-15, 2017 in Lyon, France), The 4th International Congress on Controversies in Rheumatology & Autoimmunity (CORA 2017) (March 9-11, 2017 in Bologna, Italy), 11th World Immune Regulation Meeting (March 15-18, 2017 in Davos, Switzerland), and 5th Latin American Congress on Autoimmunity (Nov 26-29, 2017 in Cancun, Mexico).
