French Society of Sports Traumatology (SFTS)

The French Society of Sports Traumatology (SFTS) formerly known as French Society of Traumatic Pathology Sports founded October 15, 1988 under the leadership of Dr. Jean-François kouvalchouk and Dr. Jacques Rodineau. The registered office of the society is in Paris. It brings together all French physicians and surgeons who work in sporting-injuries within a single society. SFTS works with an aims to advance the study and dissemination of all educational issues, clinical, scientific, technical, ethical, public health and continuing medical education for physicians and surgical specialists, healthcare professionals and stakeholders in support of victims of accidents related to the sport. It is independent of any games club or union, or any political, religious, mechanical or administrative party. SFTS establish a network to link the different specialities that are affected by this and advances the research in this area. The society has above 300 members at present. The SFTS is now affiliated to European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedic Sports Traumatology (EFOST). It accepts any person who is involved in any kind of activity related to Sports Traumatology. Since 2008 the annual congress of the French Society of Sports Traumatology is conjoined with that of SFMES (French Society of Sports Medicine). The annual congress provides a common platform to exchange experiences and scientific advances in the aim of improving sports management at international level competitor to the casual leisure. The SFTS members have also capabilities in Sports Traumatology currently the only certificate accepted in France, allows General Practitioners to use the title Doctor of Sport as they teach specific course in Sports Traumatology. The Journal of Sports Traumatology (JTS) is the official journal of SFTS which was established in 1988 by Jacques Rodineau. The Journal aims to provide an etiological approach, diagnosis and therapy of all sports related accidents and address these issues in their common aspects and specific characters.
