French Statistical Society (SFdS)

The French Statistical Society (SFdS) is an educational society established in 1997, spend significant time in measurements. (SFdS) works with a mission where they advance the utilization of measurements and understanding and advance methodological improvements. To this end, it promotes exchanges between statisticians from the administration, business or instructive or research establishments with an arrangement of activities that are introduced on this site. SFdS was recognized for public utility by pronouncement of December 3, 1998. It was officially incorporated on August6, 1997 ((announced in the Official Gazette of August 23, 1997)). The president of SFDS is Gerard Biau (UPMC). SFDS was the result of the merger of three associations in October 1996: 1) ASU (Association for Statistics and Use) founded in 1969. 2) The SSP (Statistical Society of Paris) founded in 1860. 3) SSF (Statistical Society of France) founded in 1976. The SFDS has 1200 members at present. It aims to advance the utilization of measurements to support its methodological improvements and to guarantee the representation of each one of the individuals, who practice, instructor perform there examination. SFdS proposes specifically to facilitate exchanges between statisticians working in government, business and educational or research institutions. SFDS has relationship with some internationally renowned associations like International Statistical Institute (IIS), The European Mathematical Society, Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FENStatS), EFSPI, the European Federation of Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry, European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS). SFDS publishes four electronic journals and open access: The Journal of the French Society of Statistics, The journal Statistics and Education, The revised e Statistics and Society, The review CSBIGS. It also awards three prizes named: Dr. Norbert Marx prices, Price Marie-Jeanne Laurent-Duhamel and Pierre-Simon Price Laplace. SFdS organized distinctive type of events for all crowds: Day Statistics- The 48th Days of Statistics (JdS2016) will take place from May 30 to June 3, 2016 in Montpellier, public events in Paris, Workshops- STATLEARN 2017: April 6-7, 2017, Lyon.
