Supporting & contributing towards the Indian Geriatric cause, Geriatric Society of India is a Non-governmental Organization which includes a specialist medical association of doctors. Geriatric Society of India (GSI) has been a campaigner in this field for last three decades. It is a non-profitable medical association which aims to bring geriatricians together & spreading awareness of Geriatrics in the medical as well as paramedical community. It has also become a part of the Geriatric Information Centre by merging with Om Charitable Trust. The GSI has also amalgamated with the Influenza Foundation of India & Indian Academy of Paediatrics. It has also received form the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Indian Council of Medical Research, WHO-SEARO, The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India, CSI – Delhi Branch, Indian Medical Association & National College of Chest Physicians. To spread awareness among the geriatric caregivers, doctors, nurses, paramedics and to update them regarding the new innovations in the current field, the GSI organises National & International Conferences on Geriatrics & Gerontology every year. It attempts to update its fellow members about the latest practices on geriatric care .GSI has also launched a peer review journal containing original & review articles, drug review, management tips etc. that will create & spread ample amount of awareness & information in the Geriatric Care. Geriatric Society of India is enlightening the new insights in the care of elderly by improvising methods in controlling epidemics, infections, improving medical facilities, nutrition, spreading health awareness among elderly population. It will certainly improve our own healthcare services & establish clear directions in meeting those impede challenges in the years to come.
