The Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology was founded in 1952 by a small group of pioneers Gastroenterologists Athens. There was founding member included surgeons, radiologists and laboratory physicians and historical evidence show that from the beginning the practice of Gastroenterology in our country based on the idea of creative collaboration with clinicians in other specialties who have an active interest and involvement in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.The mission of the society is to maintain and help high standard of care for patients with gastrointestinal diseases and improve the ability of its members to discover and put on new scientific knowledge for the advantage of patients through gastrointestinal diseases. The aim of Hellenic society of gastroenterology to provide the attendees with the proper knowledge and awareness in order to recognize the various premalignant conditions of the digestive system and decide on the management approach , either with surgical or endoscopic treatments , or both.
