The Hepatology Society of the Philippines was begun as the Council on Liver Diseases under the Philippine Society of Gastroenterology (PSG). Its key mission was to address various apprehensions related to the organization of liver diseases and liver-related research in the Philippines. The Hepatology Society of the Philippines is the only liver society documented by the PMA, PCP, PSG and PSDE. HSP delivers research, education and support on liver health and liver related diseases. The mission of HSP is to deliver and encourage comprehensive info to the public and to the medical civic.

Through the years after the council took form, the number of liver-related diseases arose its predicament among Filipinos. Across the world, studies and training flourished to discover new revolutions that would help persons suffering from those diseases. In the meantime, other associated health professionals took share in carrying clinical care among the increasing patient population. This unlocked the doors to a broader coverage containing other health disciplines’ collaboration to discover a treatment.

In 2005, Council of Past Presidents of the PSG were offered with the idea of developing a society that would comprise other disciplines involved in pointing to liver-related diseases by the Council on Liver Diseases. Their positive backing led to the launching of a new society- the Hepatology Society of the Philippines. HSP is the principal national organization dedicated to the study of the liver in health and disease, intricate in research, education, support and formulation of national health policies in corporation with the worldwide community.
