Iberoamerican Society for Bioinformatics (SolBio)

Iberoamerican Society for Bioinformatics (SolBio) is a world scientific society, based in October 2009 at Mexico. In 2002, The Iberoamerican Network for Bioinformatics (RIB) was created as a joint cooperative project of many research teams working within the era of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. There are some  teams who started this initiative were from Portugal, Spain and some other Latino American countries (Brazil, Argentina, Mexico etc.) and they organized 1st meeting in Buenos Aires that’s the capital of Argentina. Following this set up, a series of educational and scientific events were organized beneath the support of RIB until 2008. From 2002 to 2008 the network promoted 4 scientific events on Bioinformatics in Malaga (Spain), Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Santiago (Chile). In 2005, the Spanish Government gave official financial backing to the RIB for 3 years, serving to the organization of such conferences and to the scientific event collaborations between scientists from totally different countries among this region. SoIBio goal is to encourage research and development within the area of Bioinformatics and computational Biology within the international region of Iberoamerica.
