International Association for Conflict Management

The International Association for Conflict Management was founded to encourage scholars to develop and disseminate theory, research, and experience that is useful for understanding and improving conflict management in family, organizational, societal, and international settings. IACM has a focus on: interdisciplinary theory and research; global practice and education; and being an engaging and mentoring focused community. It is a "membership-based organization of practitioners and university faculty and doctoral students from around the world". IACM was founded in 1984. The Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) recognizes important contributions over the span of a career, particularly to those colleagues who have spanned disciplinary boundaries in their scholarship. The Jeffrey Z. Rubin award recognizes important contributions to the nexus between theory/research and practice. This set of awards recognizes an outstanding published journal article or book chapter, and an outstanding book. Another award recognizes junior scholar who has produced an outstanding dissertation.  These are awarded with the perspective gained two years following their date of publication. These awards were inaugurated in 1994. Since 2002, the outstanding book and outstanding dissertation alternate years. Negotiations and Conflict Management Research (NCMR) is the official journal of the International Association for Conflict Management (IACM) and is published by Wiley.
