International Association For Cryptologic Research

The International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR) is a non-profit scientific organization whose purpose is to further research in cryptology and related fields. The IACR was organised at the initiative of David Chaum at the CRYPTO '82 conference. The IACR organizes three annual flagship conferences and four annual workshops, which are leading venues in specific sub-areas; Crypto, Euro crypt, Asia crypt, Fast Software Encryption (FSE), Public Key Cryptography (PKC), Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (CHES), Theory of Cryptography (TCC) Several other conferences and workshops are held in cooperation with the IACR. Starting in 2015, selected summer schools will be officially sponsored by the IACR. CRYPTO '83 was the first conference officially sponsored by the IACR. The IACR publishes the Journal of Cryptology, in addition to the proceedings of its conference and workshops. The IACR also maintains the Cryptology ePrint Archive, an online repository of cryptologic research papers aimed at providing rapid dissemination of results. The IACR's primary activity each year is the organization of the three main cryptologic conferences, and four more specialist workshops. Also, from 2014, organize a series of training schools. The IACR board selects the venue of the main conferences, from a number of candidate places, although the Crypto conference is always held in Santa Barbara. The IACR board also selects the two programme co-chairs. The determination of the scientific programme is then delegated to the programme co-chairs. For each of the four workshops there is an individual steering committee which appoints programme chairs, and determines the location. For the schools, members can put forward proposals which are then discussed by a sub-committee of the board. Supported schools will receive financial aid to help with fixed costs (for example room hire and speaker expenses). The IACR recognizes outstanding technical and professional achievements and contributions through multiple kinds of awards. The primary award is the IACR Fellows Program, but this is supplemented by the IACR Distinguished Lecture series, Best Paper Awards at IACR and Invited Talks at IACR conferences and workshops.
