International Meningioma Society

Meningioma is one of common primary intracranial tumor and it takes a lot of care to treat it thus occupies a significant time of a neurosurgeons daily practice. The desire of ending the pain and suffering of the patients as well as the lack of proper research led to continuous emergence of new technical problems. These hurdles drew a line of limitation in the treatment of meningioma which has led to a  grown interest in understanding the biology of meningiomas since the early days of neurosurgery. However; after ample research carried out on this topic, meningiomas still remain a surprise to the experts of the field. Since the beginning of the 1990’s a drive to start a collaborated project arised to bring international neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, epidemiologists and basic research scientists together to work with mutual interaction. These meetings brought out some very effective results  and thus drew the attention of world known distinguished academicians, who further joined hands and improved the scientific diversity and level of the international meetings. During the fifth meeting session of these meningioma experts past presidents of former meetings further decided to create an “International Meningioma Society, which would be responsible for organizing meningioma research and care, also ensure the regularity of the meetings and promote international communication and collaboration.“The International Meningioma Society” was formed in September 2008 and desires to take the art of science in  the field of clinical care and research in meningiomas and thereby promote the best possible care for patients suffering from meningiomas.
