International Parasitic Plant Society

Universal Parasitic Plant Society was set up in the year 1973. IPPS is devoted to progressing exploratory examination on parasitic plants. Our objectives incorporate expanding comprehension of these astonishing plants and additionally diminishing the product harm perpetrated by weedy parasitic plants. The primary General Assembly of the International Parasitic Plant Society (IPPS) was held in Nantes (France) amid the International Parasitic Weed Symposium on June 4, 2001. Parasitic plants have been a wellspring of logical enthusiasm for a long time and the subject of universal meetings since 1973. That was the year of the main International Symposium on Parasitic Weeds that united a center gathering of scientists who were (and still are) enthusiastic about parasitic plants. The inexactly composed gathering held real symposia for almost 3 decades (See table beneath), regularly scattered with particular workshops on Striga, Orobanche, or non-weedy hemiparasites. The IPPS is the immediate descendent of this gathering. In 2000 a board of trustees met in Nantes, France to work out points of interest of the general public structure and compose a constitution. This was introduced to the parasitic plant research group the next year on the event of the seventh International Parasitic Weed Symposium, and the general public was formally enrolled in The Netherlands in 2001. The panel that drafted the constitution framed the main officers of the general public, André Fer - president, Patrick Thalouarn – VP, Daniel Joel – secretary, Jos Verkleij – treasurer, and James Westwood – proofreader. The general public keeps on advancing the standards of the authors in 1973, and now sorts out gatherings managing every single parasitic plant on a two year cycle to stay aware of the quickening pace of revelation.
