The italian society of hematology (SIE) was founded in 1934 by Adolfo Ferrata, Giovanni Di Guglielmo and Paul Introzzi and made ​​official in Pavia 23 June 1935. 
It is therefore one of the first Society of Hematology in Europe and in the world. The SIE has always been very active and its history, in practice, is the story of the many Italian and substantial contributions to the development of modern hematology. 
It consists of members who are given a statute with the intent to support the advancement of the discipline hematology in the field of blood to the sick, training and retraining and scientific research. The Italian Society of Hematology was founded by Adolfo Ferrata, with Giovanni Di Guglielmo and Paul Introzzi and with their closest associates in 1934 and made ​​official in Pavia on 23 June 1935. It is therefore one of the first Society of Hematology in Europe and the world.  It’s always been very active and growing; its history, in practice, is the story of the many Italian and substantial contributions to the development of modern hematology. The new SIE guideline project has a doublefold aim: to provide regularly updated high-quality guidelines taking advantage of existing high quality international guidelines; to enhance the efficient use of high-quality guidelines through innovative dissemination tools.
