Italian Society Of Hypertension

The Italian Society of Hypertension was formed by notarial deed, December 12, 1983 in Bologna during a special meeting of the Italian Study Group of Hypertension . The birth of this scientific society was in fact the natural evolution and transformation of the Study Group which was founded in Perugia in 1974 by a small number of researchers and clinicians including Professors Alberto Zanchetti, Antonio Salvetti, Cesare From Palu and lamented Bartorelli Caesar, Julius Muiesan and Savior Campus. The working group, consisting of about 100 researchers from all over Italy, met in an extremely informal once a year to give way to younger to submit the results of their research. At the beginning of the 80s, in fact, with the advent of new classes of antihypertensive drugs, the attention and interest of the medical world to the blood pressure it became rapidly growing. It was therefore necessary that the relatively small group of researchers gave life to a formal structure with a lot of laws, governing bodies etc. that on one hand represent a landmark in national and international field and the other could better address the growing expectations of the medical world and research . After its establishment, the Company, which had as its Honorary President Professor Cesare Bartorelli, saw as the first President Professor Cesare From Palu (two-year period 1984-85) and subsequently, every two years, Professors Giulio Muiesan, Alberto Zanchetti Bruno Magnani, Giulio Cinotti, Antonio Salvetti, Alessandro Rappelli, Giuseppe Mancia, Achille Cesare Pessina, Ettore Ambrosioni, Gastone Leonetti, Enrico Agabiti Rosei, Bruno Trimarco, Alberto Morganti, Massimo Volpe, up to the current President Prof. Claudio Borghi. President Elect for the 2016-2017 biennium is Professor Gianfranco Parati. The Company's activities have gradually expanding over the years. In addition to organizing the Annual Scientific Congress, the Company has carried out a policy of encouraging scientific research in the field arterial hypertension through the establishment of scholarships for both foreign countries which qualified for Italian centers, the Degree Awards, financing of scientific research projects and creating the magazine High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Prevention is the version English and Italian. The Company has also encouraged the creation of Study Groups on particular issues , with the active participation of researchers from various research centers. Since their activities are born important adjustments (guidelines, glossaries, methodologies etc.) published on the Company's scientific journals, as well as integrated projects of great scientific and clinical interest.
