Japan Electronic Industry Development Association

JEITA were formed through the merger of the Electronic Industries Association of Japan (EIAJ) and (JEIDA) on November 1, 2000. JEITA is a new industry organization, ITS COVERS both activities electronics and information technology fields.

JEITA dynamically makes proposals on industry policies by the Japanese government, supports technological development, and promotes the diffusion of products in new fields. JEIDA was similar to SEMATECH of USA and Europe. JEIDA developed number of standards like JEIDA memory card and the Exif graphical file format.

 The Electronic Industries Association of Japan Founded in the year 1948 prior to the merger, EIAJ created number of electronics industry standards that had some use outside Japan.

 

Manufacturers jointly established the Japan Electronics Industry Development Association (JEIDA) along with the authorization of the Minister for International Trade and Industry in On April 26, 1958, 26. The objectives of JEIDA’s were to promote the study, research of leading technologies and to rationalize production, to popularize the adoption of electronics. The activities of the Computer Study Group were shifted to JEIDA. The first activities at JEIDA were interconnection tests of components prototyped by different manufacturers. Whole system is not finalized but beneficial results came from prototypes of peripheral devices and memory units.
