Japanese Society of Allergology

An allergy and anaphylaxis research group is established in the year 1949, supported by the general research from the Ministry of Education. Researchers in the field gather from around the country to pursue wide-ranging basic and clinical research over a period of 3 years. During this time, a consensus emerges in favor of launching an allergology society. The International Association of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (World Allergy Organization) is formed in the year 1951 and its first congress was held in Zurich. Encouraged by this development, preparations for Japanese society of allergology (JSA) was established with a mission - To promote advances in the field of allergology and related academic disciplines. JSA has held annual meetings every year, gathering researchers in basic medicine and clinical medicine in a variety of specialties under one roof to present and discuss their research. The first Spring Meeting is held in the year 1989 with the aim of advancing clinical Allergology. The World Allergy Congress has been held twice in Japan, once in Tokyo in 1973 and the other in Kyoto 1991. The Japanese Society of Allergology comprises of researchers and physicians who share a participation in the study of allergies and clinical immunology. Clinical subareas include such allergies and immune-response disorders as bronchial asthma, collagen disease, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, allergic rhinitis, pollenosis, hives, atopic dermatitis, and immunodeficiency. However, there are many patients afflicted by other allergies as well.  JSA considers all such patients and disorders within its purview.
