KMS, Korean Mathematical Society

Korean Mathematical Society main aim is to research and dissemination of pure and applied Mathematics and Education in Mathematics and the advancement of the academic culture by working together with various fields of sciences and thus by promoting the expansion of the mathematical population and Education in Mathematics. Korean Mathematical Society was established when Korea was under the inspiration of speedy alteration, encountered with many problems. After Korea got its independence from Japanese rule, Chosun Society of Mathematics and Physics, was recognized in October, 1946. During the time of foundation of the First Republic Korean Government in 1948 mathematics teachers in various schools and colleges cemented the formation of Korean mathematics and later the changed the name to Korean Society of Mathematics and Physics.     

During the time of Korean War Korean Society of Mathematics and Physics divided into two different societies, hence on March 11, 1952, the Korean Mathematical Society came to existence. The current president of the KMS is Yong Hoon Lee, Pusan National University.  The main activities of the society are periodic publications and non-periodic publications (event organization).
