The Malta Aviation Society is a non-governmental organisation and non-profit-making body and presently has over 150 members. It founded in 1971. The aim of the Society is to foster interest in aviation matters in general, with a particular focus on aircraft spotting, aviation photography and related matters. This is reflected by a wide range of interests by its members in diverse subject such as aircraft history, restoration, aeronautical communications, and air traffic control and airline operations. The Society organised many exhibitions and conferences in various halls around the Island to promote itself as well as the aviation hobby The Malta Aviation Society has been organising the Malta International Air show since 1993. All the Preparations are made all year round for the annual event which nowadays is the prime showcase of the Society. The Society, being the prime mover behind the air show is also a founder member of the 'European Air show Council" and 'Malta Aviation Museum Foundation'. MAS caters for anyone with an interest in aviation, be it aircraft spotting, photography, aviation art, aviation communications etc.
