Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association

The Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association (MOA) is the only statewide organization representing orthopaedic surgeons in the Commonwealth. It represent the surgeons interests in dealing with the socio-economic issues affecting their practices and their ability to care for their patients. The Association conducts educational programs related to legislative, regulatory and insurance issues on the local and national level. MOA offers continuing education programs on clinical procedures and studies, risk management and practice management subjects to update physicians and provide them with the credits they need for licensure renewal. The MOA was formed to address the socio-economic issues involved in the practice of orthopaedic surgery and continues to have that as its main focus. The vast majority of our activities are devoted to practice management issues. Historically, the MOA mission hasn’t changed. Issues of worker’s compensation, liability reform, insurance company problems, reimbursements for Medicaid and Medicare, Scope of Practice continue to be at the forefront of the work of the Association. The MOA is the only in-state organization that has as its sole objective, the interests of the orthopaedic surgeon and their patients. The MOA works diligently to be the collective representative for orthopaedists and it has been able to do this while maintaining dues at $300.00 for more than 10 years. MOA works diligently on behalf of orthopaedic surgeons to provide the power of Advocacy and Political Connections, Representation on Regulatory and Insurance Issues, Educational programs, Communication vehicles.
