The mathematical association of Tanzania (MAT) is non-governmental subject association registered from 1966. The English name of the association is abbreviated as MAT and its equivalent Swahili name is "Chama cha Hisabati Tanzania" abbreviated as CHAHITA. The associative has been active since 1966 to date. The Mathematical Association of Tanzania was duly registered by the Registrar of Societies in the Ministry of Home affairs on 15th April, 1966 and given registration number SO No. 5131. Activities of the association are: To conduct regional seminars and one national mathematics seminar every year, usually in September; To Write mathematics books; To organize research competition; To organize mathematics contests (Junior & Senior); To conduct Pi day celebrations. Objectives of MAT/CHAHITA are: To effect improvements in the teaching of Mathematics and its applications; To unite members and provide means of communication for this purpose; To educate the society on the importance of mathematics and its applications. MAT has tried her best to live up to the expectations of its founding members.
