Medical Device Manufacturers Association

The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) is a national trade association based in Washington, DC that advocates for hundreds of entrepreneurial medical technology companies. We are committed to promoting innovation and improving patient care through outreach, education and the grassroots efforts of our members. It is vital that we share our interests and concerns before Congress enacts legislation that will impact our members and the industry. MDMA works tirelessly on many issues, including: A reasonable, predictable and transparent FDA ; Timely and appropriate reimbursement for technologies; Open market access and physician choice; A patent system that protecs and rewards innovation; Improving elements of healthcare legislation. MDMA was created in 1992 by a group of medical-device company executives who believed that the innovative and entrepreneurial sector of the industry needed a strong and independent voice in the nation's capital. Since its inception, MDMA can claim credit for a number of policy achievements, from the defeat of legislative proposals to foist "user fees" upon the industry in 1993 and 1994 to the development and passage of the landmark FDA Modernization Act of 1997. Today, MDMA is the leading voice representing the interests of innovative and entrepreneurial medical technology companies. We provide educational and advocacy assistance to more than 270 members. MDMA members all share a common goal: to provide patients and clinicians with timely access to safe and effective medical technologies that improve the quality of life.
