Microscopical Society of Canada features Atmosphere

Catalysts are essential in massive industries such as chemical synthesis, product manufacturing, automotive and renewable energy.  They make chemical reactions more energy efficient while eliminating harmful by-products and emissions. The unparalleled spatial resolution and analytical capabilities of today’s transmission electron microscopes (TEMs) are uniquely suited for catalyst research. However, as a TEM requires a sample to be imaged and characterized in high vacuum, not real world reaction conditions, the Atmosphere 200 Gas E-Cell System was utilized in several research projects which are reviewed in the Microscopical Society of Canada Bulletin.  Atmosphere is a holder-based E-cell that converts a TEM from a vacuum-only instrument into an environmental TEM laboratory with complete control over gas pressure and temperature.
