The National Speleological Society is the biggest association on the planet working each day to promote the investigation, study, and insurance of caverns and their surroundings, and foster cooperation among cavers. For more than 70 years, the National Speleological Society has advanced protected and capable buckling hones, compelling hole and karst administration, speleology, and preservation. NSS enrollment offers overall caver fellowship and systems administration open doors and access to data about disclosures and improvements in giving in, speleology, hardware, and strategies through our distributions, yearly traditions, caves and other inner associations, and NSS-supported ventures, undertakings, and overviews. These cavers devote a huge number of hours a year helping the Society at all levels to further its objectives, build up its projects, deal with its business and properties, and fulfill particular ventures.
The Society relies on dedicated volunteers for its 12 directors, 5 officers, publication editors, 120+ standing committees, and numerous subcommittees. The greatest accomplishments in caving and conservation are often achieved through the Society's Internal Organization (IO) structure. The Board of Governors meets three times a year, including a summer meeting during the NSS Convention. The other two meetings are hosted by grottos in various parts of the country in the fall and spring, providing Board members the opportunity to learn about local activities and discuss issues with cavers throughout the country.Read More»
