New Jersey Dental Association

The New Jersey Dental Association or American Dental Association (ADA) was established in 1859. It is an American professional association which has more than 155,000 members. ADA is the America’s leading advocate for oral health. It is headquarters at Chicago, Illinois. ADA is the oldest and world's largest national dental association that representing the dental profession and promotes oral health to the public while. The ADA publishes articles related to dental in a monthly Journal of the American Dental Association. It was founded by twenty-six dentists who were from the various dental societies in the United States. The ADA established arduous guidelines for advertising and testing of dental products. It has more than 400 employees and its office in Washington, D.C. The Paffenbarger Research Center (PRC) is located in the NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland, an agency of the ADAF and a Department of the Division of Science. ADA uses PRC scientists conduct basic and applied studies in dental chemistry, clinical research, cariology and polymer chemistry. The ADA sponsors several positions to representatives in the U.S. Congress. The ADA agenda includes funding to the dental research into the effectiveness and safety of fluoride and amalgam, it supports student residency programs and loans for future dentists and coverage from CHIP programs and Medicaid through reform of insurance and medical liability that reduces dental costs and through health information technology, and improving public health through tobacco control ,water fluoridation and disaster planning and response. The organization structure includes the Board of Trustees and the administrative body of the Association that is poised of President, two Vice Presidents and 17 trustees. The Other publications include the ADA Guide to Dental Therapeutics and the ADA News. The ADA officially distinguishes 9 fields of dental practice: Endodontic, oral and maxillofacial pathology, dental public health, orthodontics, dentofacial orthopedics, oral and pediatric dentistry prosthodontics, periodontics, maxillofacial radiology and maxillofacial surgery.
