North American Nursing Diagnosis Association

NANDA has been created in the year 1982. The organization was born out of the National Conference Group, a division formed in 1973, at the First National Conference on the Classification of Nursing Diagnoses, held at St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

In 2002, NANDA changed itself to NANDA International (NANDA-I) to imitate ever-growing universal attention in the field of nursing diagnosis terminology. In 2012, it re-invented itself as NANDA International, Inc.

NANDA International has permitted more than 200 nursing diagnoses for clinical use, testing and refinement. Execution of nursing diagnosis augments every facet of nursing practice, from gathering expert respect to guaranteeing steady certification representing nurses’ professional clinical decision, and precise documentation to enable repayment. NANDA International exists to grow, improve and endorse terminology that accurately reflects nurses' clinical judgments. In 2002, it officially became NANDA International (and NANDA International, Inc. in 2011), in deliberation of the noteworthy growth of our membership outside North America. It continues to make use of the term "NANDA" as part of its name, due to its acquaintance. However, "NANDA" is no longer an acronym for "North American." Instead, NANDA is the brand name.
