North Carolina Pecan Growers Association

North Carolina Pecan Growers Association was formed on October 26, 1994 to promote research encourage and educate in all points of the pecan industry, to interact with others in the interest of pecan growers throughout the region, and to support pecans as a profitable crop in North Carolina.  An eight member steering committee, consisting a mainly of pecan farmers in eastern North Carolina, gathered during the summer months of to grow a establishment and by-laws for the North Carolina Pecan Growers Association., the association was officially chartered as a 501c-3 non-profit organization. In achievement of its mission, North Carolina Pecan Growers Association sponsors annual educational workshops and field days.

At each event, a North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Marketing Specialist, North Carolina State University Specialists, research specialists, NCPGA personnel participate and national experts in the educational programs and in demonstration orchards. One goal of North Carolina Pecan Growers Association is for North Carolina to be standard as a viable partner on the national pecan scene. Leading pecan publications routinely include articles about the North Carolina Pecan Growers Association educational agendas, and other information as provided by the Association. Several Organizing members serve as officers and directors in the South eastern Pecan Growers Association. The South eastern association signifies the world's major pecan growing region. The SEPGA Annual Convention is viewed as a highly favoured forum by national pecan leaders to present their research papers and by allied industry representatives as the premier event to determine their products and services.
