Norwegian Dental Association

The Norwegian Dental Association (NDA) is a proficient association and trade union for dental practitioners in Norway. The association safeguards the expertise, financial and social interests of dental practitioners. They have approximately 6100 individuals (2013), and more than 95% of all working dentists are members. NDA essential tasks are related to dental health policies, the operating and working conditions for dentists, and postgraduate education. The association's secretariat is located at Haakon VIIs gate 6 in the Vika section of Oslo, and we have 23 permanent employees.  The Vision of NDA is to have competent and content members with fulfilled patients in a population with good oral health. The NDA will build on the following values: professionalism and respect,  high ethical standards. The NDA's activities are divided into three primary areas: socially oriented work and organisational conditions, member-oriented work. The NDA's objective is to unite Norwegian dentists to safeguard the dental profession's professional, promote its authority and reputation, financial and social interests; to represent the dental profession, or any part of this, in questions relating to the occupation and in relation to the public authorities; to promote collegial solidarity; and to encourage odontological science and measures focused on developing dental health. The executive committee is the NDA's uppermost body and is managed by a collegium of chairmen. The executive board member is member of the executive committee, but they do not have any voting rights. The members eligible to vote are the legislatures for the local associations. Student members and specialist associations are also represented, but they do not have any voting rights. The executive board maintains the activities of the association. Executive committee elects the president, vice president and six members. The chair person of the central negotiating committee is also a part of the executive board. One of the private sectors - executive board's ordinary members is the chairman of the central commerce committee. The association's highest executive is the president. The central negotiating committee shall safeguard the working conditions and salaries for dental practitioners in the public sector, and the responsibility for entering into agreements on behalf of the NDA has been delegated to this committee. This committee shall also safeguard issues of significant interest to private dental practitioners, including the working conditions and operating in private business activities.
