The association is of central board of Dnlf the 21.02.2007 approved as medical specialty association for specialty digestive disorders. The decrees are accepted by the AGM on 09.02.2007. It changed according to NMA provisions on eligibility for all members of 15.10.2007.
The association is named as Norwegian Gastroenterological Association the initials being NGF.
Society is that medical specialty association a division of the Norwegian Medical Association and covered by the association's statutes. Statute applies in addition to Dnlfs laws.
The NGF is driven by the following objectives:
Promotes Norwegian gastroenterology academic and scientific
Ensures that the academic and health policy work in the field based on modernized medical knowledge and the highest possible agreement on scientific significances
Contributes to medical education, specialist and for education of high quality and in line with national and international practice
NGF members are affiliates of Dnlf, registered with the association or who choose this as medical specialty association.
Doctors who are voluntary members should have the same rights and duties as the mandatory members.
Society upon application occupies anyone as a member if he has a sense of belongingness to the association field. Physicians looking for association should be members in Dnlf. Associates who are not physicians have no voting rights.
Honorary members may be elected at the AGM on the Board.

The annual meeting is the highest organ and is open to all members. Media are allowed except in special cases that the annual meeting had to decide.
