Norwegian Statistical Association

The Norwegian Statistical Association (NSF) has three native societies located in Oslo, Bergen, and Trondheim. The Norwegian Statistical Association has its own publication called Tilfeldig Gang (Random Walk). The Society is one of the four organisations in charge for the journal Scandinavian Journal of Statistics (SJS). The NSF was established on January 7, 1919. The Association's woks with the purpose (i) to be a link among Norwegian statisticians and encourage their professional and academic commercial interests (ii) to promote contact among statisticians and statistical interested (iii) spread knowledge and interest in statistics in community and school (iv) to promote information and cooperation between Nordic statisticians (v) to promote Norwegian statisticians contact with the international community statistician. The association is working towards these goals by Keeping Norwegian statistician meets every two years, hold meetings for Nordic statisticians when it is Norway trip, publishing together with sister associations in the other Nordic countries, Scandinavian Journal of Statistics, publishing a magazine, organizing and supporting conferences, training courses and symposia for statisticians, hold meetings with lectures and discussions of topics of statistical nature in both technique and theory, Members within a professional specialist can form a discipline of study. Disciplines of study have its own statutes and their own finances. Association must be approved by the Board of NSF. The main goal of the Association was to act as a connection between Norwegian statisticians and to uphold their research and professional interests. The Association aims to make the relationship among statisticians from the Nordic countries stronger and to raise contact with the international statistical society. The Association works strongly to encourage and increase interest for statistics in the school system as well as in the rest of the society. The Association's purpose is to be a link between Norwegian statisticians and promote their professional, academic interests. The association also works to promote cooperation and information between Nordic statisticians and Norwegian statisticians contact with the international statistician community. Furthermore, the Association is to spread knowledge and interest in statistics in the school and community. The association consists of a main union and local departments in Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. NSF publishes a membership magazine Random time. Along with sister associations in Denmark, Sweden and Finland are NSF responsible for the release of the renowned journal Scandinavian Journal of Statistics (SJS). Every two years organizing NSF Norwegian statistician meeting. Norwegian statistical association is a continuation of the statistician club founded on 7 January 1919.
