Ohio Orthopaedic Society

The Ohio Orthopaedic Society is dedicated to providing the finest in medical care for patients with musculoskeletal problems. They adhere to the highest ethical standards and practice orthopaedics in the most professional manner possible. Through continuing medical education and self-improvement members are always striving to achieve excellence in quality orthopaedic care. Orthopaedics is a medical specialty focusing on the diagnosis, care and treatment of patients with disorders of the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves and skin. These elements make up the musculoskeletal system. The physicians who specialize in this area are called orthopaedic surgeons. Orthopaedists are involved in all aspects of health care pertaining to the musculoskeletal system. They use medical, physical and rehabilitative methods as well as surgery. Typically, as much as 50% of the orthopaedist's practice is devoted to non-surgical or medical management. The orthopaedist also works closely with other health care professionals and often serves as a consultant to other physicians. Orthopaedists play an important role in the organization and delivery of emergency care. They are members of the teams which manage complex, multi-system trauma. Board of Councillors has helped address the ever increasing role of the Federal Government in the practice of medicine in the USA. Each doctor had his differing opinions for the purpose of forming a special Orthopaedic group. The Society was actively supporting physical therapists in their efforts to become licensed through legislative action. Needless to say, the officers of the Society were becoming more aware of the need to Delegate responsibly among the membership. They continued to seek to improve Orthopaedic care in Ohio by concentrating our efforts and the Board of Councillors has helped address the ever increasing role of the Federal Government in the practice of medicine in the USA.
