The oldest association of Paleobotanists on the planet was Paleobotanical Section of the Botanical Society of America . The establishing father of the Section in the years of 1934-1936 was Loren C. Perry, then of Cornell University. Paleobotanical commitments at the Botanical Society of America's gatherings had usually been introduced before the General Section. Teacher Perry started dialogs of framing a formal association of the Paleobotany Section. The thought was improved by the visit to the U.S.A. of Dr. H. Hamshaw Thomas amid the Pittsburgh meeting of the Botanical Society.Whether one acknowledges the underlying choice of the paleobotanists to compose in 1934, or the last acknowledgment of the proposition in 1936, PSBSA is the most seasoned formal association of paleobotanists on the planet.
