The association was created as a system for engendering enthusiasm for gastrointestinal pathology. For underlining the significance of gastrointestinal pathology as a refined and complex zone of pathology .The association was created for sharing data among individuals & for creating joint investigative endeavour among its individuals It also provides platform for setting up referral focuses or referral instruments for particular sorts of case issues & for conceiving a registry for surprising cases.

The society has privileged links with international societies American Gastroenterological Society, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology , The American Society for Investigative Pathology , Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society & American Society for Clinical Pathology.CME Credit is provided for its annual meetings. As of now, the Society honor prizes for inhabitant presentations at the USCAP yearly meeting and arranges instructive symposia at national gatherings, including the IAP, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, Digestive Disease Week and the universal congresses of the International Academy of Pathology.
