Royal Dublin Society

Since its origin in 1731, the RDS has developed from a little assembling of visionaries into one of world's most established generous associations that is devoted to our main goal to see Ireland flourish socially and monetarily. The Dublin Society received the title of Royal Dublin Society (RDS) in 1820 in acknowledgement of their supporter George IV on his visit to the Society in 1820. In 1815 the RDS moved to Leinster House and kept on building up the social and investigative premiums they had set up amid the eighteenth century. Here the RDS extended their library and gallery accumulations, facilitated Dargan's 1853 Great Exhibition and managed their Drawing Schools, Botanical Gardens and the Irish Radium Institute.
