Saudi Pharmaceutical Society

The saudi pharmaceutical society (sps) is a non-profit professional organization which represents all the pharmacists of Saudi Arabia. It was founded on 2008 and it contributes to the planning and development of the pharmacy profession. The saudi society for pharmacy is considerable panel that represents pharmacists in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and it was established on 7/5/1408 AH in order to organize and put within a framework all pharmaceutical works, and to directly contribute in the planning and development aiming at elevating the level of pharmacy professions. The number of the society's members has reached 4414 members so far. The sps was able to achieve several accomplishments including: establishment of the Saudi Board under the umbrella of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as well as the Saudi Clinical Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy Clubs. The sps educational program is recognized by American Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The prominent role played by the saudi society for pharmacy is to serve the pharmacist and the pharmacy profession. During it short age so far the society could attract a number of pharmacists to its membership where the number was 152 in 1408 AH and it reached 4414 in 1426 AH. Added to that, the roles are a) Establishing the scientific board for pharmacists under the umbrella of Saudi panel for health specialties. b)  As outcomes of recommendations of the society's conference, faculties of pharmacy were established in the western, eastern, eastern and southern regions to fulfill the needs of the health sector of pharmacists c) It achieved the recognition for itself as well as for its education programs by the American council for pharmaceutical education (ACPE). d) In cooperation with the ministry of health, the pharmacy practicing system has been divided into two systems: the first is concerned with practicing the pharmacy profession and the second is concerned with the trade- system in medicines and pharmaceutical productions. e) Issuing the Saudi medicines directory in cooperation with the ministry of health f) Issuing the Saudi pharmacy journal, a quarterly scientific refereed journal, and it is sent to a great number of universities worldwide. g) Issuing the pharmacist's publication (in Arabic), which is issued every two months and includes new on the society's members activities and other educating and illuminating news. h) Issuing illuminating publications regularly on all health accessions like Ramadan month and Al-Haj seasons (pilgrimage) i) Holding conferences, seminars and scientific lecture in forms of continuous education and in sequence to cover the pharmacist's needs of continuous education hours. j) Holding the international Saudi pharmacy conference regularly once every two years. k) Establishing the Saudi club for clinical pharmacy. l) Establishing the Saudi society for pharmacy site on the Internet.
