Slovac toxicology society

The slovak toxicology society (setox) is a body corporate and civil association in the sense of Law No. 83/1990, Body of Lows on public corporation, associating professionals in the field of toxicology. setox was established in 2006 by splitting from the slovak medical society. The setox is aimed at supporting the development of toxicology in Slovakia, organizing scientific events (seminars, conferences),education in toxicology ,publication activities ,cooperation with state authorities and other societies in fields related to toxicology at national and international level. It supports development and implementation of in vitro methods into toxicology. It provides  praxis,dissemination of information for members. The setox aims to support cooperation and exchange of information between setox and international professional organizations and also supports research and development in the field of toxicology. The main goal of setox is to propose toxicological projects of research and development and to support participation of members in activities at international platform. setox  has 4 divisions which supports its goals. One of the scopes of this division is experimental toxicology which models adverse effects during intrauterine development and study of the effect of diverse agents on structural as well as functional integrity using modern in vivo as well as in vitro methods. The second division is clinical toxicology which focuses mainly on common intoxications present in the population and cooperates with experienced physicians to elucidate and solve problems of toxic exposure in humans. Industrial toxicology and ecotoxicology is the main focus of the third division of setox which has a great deal of work concerns occupational hazards and possible toxic exposure during the work process. The fourth and youngest division of setox is In vitro toxicology(ivt) which brings together scientists interested in in vitro methodologies and assessment of toxicity by means of alternative/in vitro methods. The mission of ivt is to promote in vitro toxicology and its practical applications, serve as an information channel between national and international groups interested in toxicology in vitro, stimulate, support and promote use in vitro tests in the field of education.
