slovak mathematical society (sms) is a division of slovak mathematicians and physicists (JSMF) . Its main objective is to promote the development and application of mathematics. slovak mathematical society is a voluntary organization which maintains contact and provides services throughout the mathematical community, mathematical institutions and their officials. It is a member of the international mathematical union (IMU) and the european mathematical society (EMS). sms also cooperates with slovak society. The supreme body of sms is the general assembly, which meets at least once every three years. The executive body of the committee of the sms message. Member magazines are sms horizons mathematics, physics and computer science.  The principal goal of the sms is to promote the advancement of mathematics and its applications. sms is a voluntary nonprofit organization serving mathematical institutions and their representatives as well as the whole mathematical community.  It promotes the development of all aspects of mathematics in particular mathematical research, relations of mathematics to society and mathematical education. Its aims are to promote mathematical research, both pure and applied; assist and advise on problems of mathematical education ;concern itself with the broader relations of mathematics to society; foster interaction between mathematicians of different countries; represent the mathematical community in supra-national institutions. The Society seeks to serve all kinds of mathematicians in universities, research institutes and other forms of higher education. Every year it awards its main prize to a promising young mathematician. It also awards smaller prizes for the best dissertation, diploma and high-school thesis in mathematics.
