The Italian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, founded November 22, 1892 and a charitable foundation with DR 24 December 1928, n. 3512, published in the Official Gazette of June 5, 1929 n. 130, it takes the name of the Italian Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics - Italian Federation (SIGO) and has its registered office in Rome. Promote and encourage studies in all fields of gynecology and obstetrics and in every other area connected to them, indicating regular conferences, symposia and national and international conferences, general or sectoral interests and refresher courses Develop and improve the exchange of information in gynecological and obstetric disciplines by promoting cooperation in searches for new knowledge in these fields. Promote and encourage research and the teaching of the subject in the medical, paramedical and social, defending the autonomy and unity of the discipline in every scientific and educational aspect. Promote cooperation with other scientific societies, national and international, facilitating the opportunity for members to increase their cultural exchanges. Ensure full cooperation with the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics striving for an active and qualified Italian international presence. Encourage, with the means that are proper, achieving a higher level of health of the woman, finalizing what its activities for the whole human reproductive phenomenon, including embryo-fetal pathophysiology.
