Royal Belgian Society of Gastroenterology

Royal Belgian Society of Gastroenterology was created by Georges Brohée and his team. They worked for the development of gastroenterology in Belgium by organizing the first international congress of this discipline. Society’s main aim includes improving prevention, screening, and treatment of gastrointestinal tract diseases by favoring information and education of the population about them. Its aims in Research includes: favoring collaborations between clinical and research centres and promoting national and regional research projects in the field of epidemiology of gastrointestinal diseases. Its aim in Professional life includes: favouring adhesion to SRBGE, interactions between national interest groups working on gastrointestinal tract diseases (including pancreas, hepatology, oncology, inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopy), providing health professionals with specific guidelines, encouraging health professionals to improve and evaluate the quality of health care. Its aim in continuous training includes: providing health care professionals with high-quality conferences, symposiums, and workshops on topics related to gastrointestinal tract diseases.
