SEJ's reputation for service, integrity, and excellence has been erected upon annual conferences hosted by eminent universities, scores of regional events, on-line services, unique publications, in-the-newsroom training sessions, and an extensive membership network. SEJ working and project finances are guaranteed through a combination of basis grants based on SEJ proposals (emphasis on unrestricted support, general), university supports of the annual conference, media company contributions, earned revenue from fees and dues for services (including exhibit, ad space and single use rental of the email distribution listserv) and earnings from individual gifts to the grants. SEJ does not accept gifts or donations from non-media corporations or environmental advocacy groups and government agencies. Activists and public relations professionals are not eligible for membership in SEJ. Everyone is welcomed to participate in SEJ's annual conferences and contribute to SEJ Journal.
